Here at TYA our students make friendships that last a lifetime. During our group sessions, we have structured lessons and time to play games to provide opportunities for the group members to learn new skills and interact with one another. Being able to count on one another as friends and colleagues is an important factor in our groups. Helping a student build the confidence needed in any social environment is what we strive for.
Socialization is key!
At TYA we are dedicated to making sure our students understand how important it is to be social. Socialization is one of the most prominent most important aspects of our society! By giving students a safe and unique environment, we help students understand what is appropriate and what should be avoided when communicating with friends, family, and coworkers.
Party Time!
TYA is a place where everyone can have fun while still learning. We celebrate birthdays and holidays (if you do) with parties that are organized by the students! Many groups participate in activities outside of the group such as having a group dinner. These activities help foster independence, build confidence, and experience friendship. Outings allow students to practice what they have learned in their groups.

Everyone learns in different paces, regardless of age. At TYA we are committed to having students thrive in our groups. We look at a combination of age and learning level in order to place students in an appropriate group. We understand and develop individual goals that best meet the needs of each student.

Here at TYA we firmly believe that autism is more than a “disability” - that our students can achieve their dreams and goals successfully. With the support of friends and family, our groups can help students overcome any obstacle!

Our Mission:
TYA - The Gathering Place strives to provide a unique and meaningful social skills group where participants will experience friendship and gain the tools needed to socialize in varying environments and situations.
We are dedicated to providing an enjoyable, creative and progressive learning space where kids, teens, and young adults feel safe, included, and supported by the facilitators and each other. In doing so we enable students to increase their confidence to make friends and socialize with peers.
